Frequently Asked Questions

What is purpose of the Leadership and Engagement Awards?

Every year, Frostburg State University's Division of Student Affairs recognizes the contributions of our outstanding students, faculty, and staff for their leadership and engagement through the Leadership and Engagement Awards ceremony.  Formerly the Leadership Awards Reception, the Leadership and Engagement Awards Ceremony expands on the leadership recognition by incorporating engagement and the outstanding co-curricular achievements which occur on our campus.

When will the award recipients be announced?

The Leadership and Engagement Awards Ceremony will take place each spring in the Alice R. Manicur Assembly Hall (ARMAH) in the Lane University Center.  This event is by invitation only, but a live webcast will be available.  All eligible nominees will be invited to join us at the Awards Ceremony.

Who is eligible to be nominated?

Please visit the eligibility page for specific eligibility criteria.  Some awards, however, have specific qualifications that need to be considered prior to submitting a nomination.  Be sure to double check the award descriptions on the Award Categories page.

May I nominate two (2) people for the same award or nominate the same person for two (2) awards?

Yes!  We encourage you to nominate all qualified candidates for all awards which you feel they are deserving of and eligible for.

Are self-nominations accepted?

Self-nominations are not accepted.

How are award recipients determined?

Awardees are selected after a review and ranking of nominees for each individual award.  An ad hoc committee is formed each year to review nominees and select award recipients.  Each committee member has demonstrated exceptional leadership and devotion on this campus.
